Ballads, work songs, songs of nature, songs for peace. Jan. 10 at 7:30 in New London, CT!
On a Day Like Today is Geoff’s latest album, released in 2024. Geoff says the songs have attached themselves to him “much like seeds hitchhiking on socks and shoelaces as you walk through a field.” Like seeds, he is glad the songs find a growing audience. According to Rick Koster in The Day, “Kaufman’s strong and lovely tenor is expressive and nuanced, perfectly enhancing the meanings of the songs,” and Koster continues, saying the songs “capture not only the autumnal palette of Kaufman’s heart, but also his views on our place and responsibilities as humans.”
Geoff sings songs from iconic composers like Phil Ochs, John Prine, Pete Seeger, Kate Wolf, and Leonard Cohen, and others less known. Geoff also shares songs he loves for their pure grace and beauty. Mostly, he just loves to sing, whether a cappella or accompanied by guitar, concertina or bones. Geoff has eight albums available through his website at geoffkaufman.com, including one he produced with performers Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, and Eric Weissberg that includes songs collected at Camp Woodland in the Catskills. Geoff will be featured on WCNI 90.9 FM on January 8th at 8 a.m., hosted by Dot Ames of Gramma’s Attic!
