“Everybody Knows” Leonard Cohen Tribute on Friday, October 13

Cohen’s songwriting and worldly-wise, deep-voiced words and music touched many.  In his 82 years, Leonard  Cohen explored religion, politics, isolation, sexuality, and personal relationships.  Early compositions included “Suzanne,” “Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye,” and “Bird on a Wire.”  His song “Hallelujah” became the most-covered song in history.  Hugely influential, Leonard Cohen was admired by Bob Dylan and other giants of song, up to the current generation of song smiths.

This tribute concert is led by Matthew Male and Lauren Agnelli, who began performing Leonard Cohen tribute concerts in 2006 as Small Town Concert Series. As avid fans of Cohen and his music, Matt and Lauren searched out other local musicians who shared that love and could bring his songs to life.  They have performed six sold-out Leonard Cohen tributes in the course of seven years.

With a new “house band” on vocals, keyboard, guitar, bass, mandolin, and drums, the Small Town Concert Series returns with their seventh tribute to the man who made them bend a knee in reverence while singing “Dance Me to the End of Love,” “Who By Fire,” “I’m Your Man” and, of course, “Hallelujah.”  Favorite New London performers will be included in the show, an evening of haunting, exhilarating music that is sure to bring Leonard Cohen’s eclectic oeuvre to life.
